Tips for growing dahlia bulbs:
Soil preparation: Prepare a well-drained growing bed, enriched with compost or organic fertilizer. Remove any weeds and level the soil.
Planting: Plant dahlia bulbs in spring, after the risk of frost has passed. Plant the bulbs at a depth of about 10 centimeters, with the shoot facing upward. Spacing between bulbs: 30-45 centimeters.
Watering: Water dahlia bulbs regularly, especially during dry periods. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Ensure the soil remains moist, but not too wet.
Fertilizer: Apply a balanced fertilizer or a potassium-rich fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Avoid fertilizers that are too high in nitrogen. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the correct amount and dosage.
Pest and Disease Protection: Monitor plants regularly for signs of pests or diseases such as aphids or gray mold. Use appropriate plant protection products only when necessary, following the package instructions.
Plant Support: Install a stake such as bamboo canes or cages during plant growth to support the stems and prevent them from collapsing during strong winds or during heavy flowering.
Removing Faded Flowers: Regularly remove faded flowers to encourage continued flowering and prevent seed formation.
