Growing tips for Echinacea rhizomes
Planting: Plant the rhizomes in a well-drained, loose and fertile soil. Echinacea performs best in full sun, but tolerates partial shade, with slightly reduced flowering.
Planting depth and spacing: Place the rhizomes about 5–8 cm deep, spacing plants 30–40 cm apart.
Watering: Water well after planting and keep the soil moderately moist during establishment. Once established, echinacea is drought tolerant.
Fertilising: Minimal feeding is required. A light application of fertiliser in early spring is sufficient.
Maintenance: Remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming. At the end of the season, allow the foliage to die back naturally before cutting.
Hardiness: A hardy perennial, echinacea generally requires no winter protection.
