KYOTO MARKET SPRING ONION - 1115

(ALREADY EVERGREEN) An excellent variety with no distinctive basal bulb. It is cylindrical in shape and contains over 30% edible material; it is tender and very sweet. (Note: its sweetness can also be enhanced by reduced nitrogen fertilization.) Its flavor is reminiscent of leeks, garlic, and chives, and it is a very hardy variety that can be harvested year-round.
Evergreen in its first year, it produces a single, thickened, tender, and sweet stem; starting in the second year, new basal shoots form around the main bulb, giving the plant a tufted appearance.
