It forms the classic "mammole" (daisy flowers), and is a late spring variety that prefers a mild, dry climate. The flower heads are harvested gradually until spring. From sowing, you can also obtain a certain percentage of false plants that produce small, spiny fruits and therefore should be eliminated.

Tips: It is important to vernalize the seed (you can put it in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks or in the freezer for a day). Pick firm, not too ripe flower heads. The plant can last for 3-5 years. The lateral shoots (carducci) should be detached from the main plant in September-October and in January-February. They can be eaten in the kitchen like cardoons. In the rotation, do not follow with species belonging to the same Asteraceae family (chicory, lettuce, etc.). Seed required: 3-4 g per m2 in the seedbed. "
