A small perennial shrub that requires protection in winter. The citrus-scented flowers and leaves are used in liqueurs, fruit jellies, and fruit salads. Harvested from June to September.

N.B. During the winter (November-February), this species' vegetation disappears completely; however, the root system remains vital and will allow the plant to regrow again in spring.
