Lilium candidum belongs to the Liliaceae family and is native to the Mediterranean basin. Unlike other lily species, it forms a shallow, perennial bulb, which tends to renew itself annually through bulbils and basal regeneration. It produces erect stems 100–120 cm tall, with trumpet-shaped inflorescences with an intense fragrance and pure white color.
