LENTINULA EDODES MUSHROOM (Shii take mushroom) - 1604
Out of stock
This is its name in Japan, where it has been known for over 2,000 years, and its origins are surrounded by legend. It is grown on beech, hornbeam, oak, and magnolia trunks with a diameter of 10–15 cm and a length of 1 m. The mycelium is inoculated after holes are drilled and small pieces of wood covered in mycelium are inserted.

SHII-TAKE GROWTH
Growing mushrooms on wood is very simple, guaranteed to be successful, and doesn't pollute the environment; in fact, it makes it more beautiful and natural. This package contains mushroom mycelium. The cultivation described below can be done on almost any deciduous wood, although beech, birch, and oak are best suited. Never use conifers!
INOCULATION WITH THE SANDWICH METHOD:We recommend using green logs 40-50 cm long and about 15 cm in diameter, splitting them lengthwise. Spread the mycelium over one of the cut surfaces until it is completely covered; the two halves are then sandwiched together and tied with string. One jar of dried mycelium is enough to prepare 1-2 logs. The more mycelium you use, the more confident you will be in the final result. Inoculation is possible year-round: the best time, however, is between April and October.
MYCELIUM MULTIPLICATION IN WOOD:The prepared wood sandwiches are placed inside a fairly large plastic bag, which is then opened ajar and perforated here and there. Within two months, both in the garage and cellar, the mycelium invades the wood (ideal temperature between 20-30°C).
Caution: It is very easy to contaminate the compost and compromise the final yield. Prepare and inoculate the wood in a clean environment with perfectly clean hands and tools!
PLACE OF PRODUCTION AND HARVEST: The location chosen for your "mushroom garden" should be moist, shaded, and sheltered from the wind. The individual sandwiches, tied and removed from the plastic bag, are buried horizontally with the split facing up and then ridged with soil. Only the split remains visible. The distance between buried sandwiches should be about 30 cm. Mushrooms will grow with the spring and autumn rains. If you keep the wood sandwiches moist during the production period, your harvest will be more abundant. Harvesting is typically done for three consecutive years, and during this time, the wood sandwiches remain in place. Inoculated birch wood begins to produce mushrooms 3-6 months after planting; oak and beech wood after 8-12 months.
