Perennial, it prefers humid sites where it easily naturalizes, forming thick carpets. It is ideal for hot and cold drinks, zucchini and eggplant, and sauces to accompany meats such as lamb.

N.B. During the winter (November-February), this species' vegetation disappears completely; however, the root system remains vital and will allow the plant to regrow again in the spring.
