Description
PEAS (Phaseolus family) Sowing: October-November in temperate climates where temperatures do not drop below -8°C. March-April everywhere. Peas grow even at temperatures of 5°C. Sowing is done in rows in open fields, burying the seed in holes 4-6cm apart. Spacing: varies greatly depending on the vigour of the variety: 45-60cm between rows for dwarf varieties; 70-20cm for climbing varieties; 5-20cm along the row. Tips: Earth up developed plants and provide adequate support for climbing varieties. When harvesting, for fresh use, wrinkled-grained peas are more resistant to storage, while smooth-grained peas should be harvested as soon as they ripen. Staggered sowing is recommended to ensure a consistently fresh product. Seed requirements: 1.5-2kg per 100m2.
