Sow in March-June by broadcasting or in rows about 30 cm apart; then thin the seedlings, leaving one about every 10 cm. It is practically perennial. Cut the leaves almost to ground level; after cutting, the plants regrow quickly.

Sowing: in seedbeds in rows or broadcast, from March to September depending on the variety, lightly covered with soil.
Distances: between rows 40-50 cm. Along the rows 20-35 cm for varieties such as 'Pan di Zucchero'. In closer rows or broadcast for small varieties.
Advice: suitable for harvesting the mature head or also for cutting.
Seed requirements: planted 30g per 100 m2.
