Description
Growing onions by transplanting small bulbs allows for fewer emergency problems and significantly earlier harvests. The sowing period varies depending on the area and the type of cultivation; however, only long-day bulbs are available. Planting can therefore be done in a greenhouse from December to February with transplanting in late winter, or directly in the open field starting in late February. Planting should be done by burying the bulbs 1-2 cm deep, spacing them 30-40 cm between rows and 15-20 cm along the row. Therefore, 30-50 bulbs per square meter are needed, equal to 200-300 g.
