Description
Aronia melanocarpa ‘Galicjanka’ is a selected cultivar of black chokeberry, appreciated for its high productivity, disease resistance and high antioxidant content in the fruits. A deciduous shrub native to North America, it is suitable for both ornamental use and for producing berries, ideal for juices, jams, supplements, and health preparations.
Main characteristics:
- Adult height: 1.5 – 2 m
- Foliage: glossy green, with intense red-purple color in autumn
- Flowering: May, with white flowers gathered in compact inflorescences
- Fruit: black berries, rich in polyphenols and vitamin C, ripening from late August to September
- Abundant and consistent production, even in poor soils
Cultivation and care:
- Exposure: full Sun or partial shade
- Soil: Tolerates various soil types, but prefers cool, acidic, or neutral substrates
- Irrigation: Moderate, drought-tolerant
- Hardy: Very high, resistant to temperatures down to -20°C
